Junior Golf
Cobh Golf Club is proud to offer an exceptional junior golf program, which has been rapidly expanding under the dedicated guidance of Marian Britton and our talented golf pro, Conor Coyne. The Junior section has two categories, Cadets – Ages 12 & under and Juveniles – age 13 to 17.
Program Overview
With their passion for the sport and deep commitment to nurturing the next generation of golfers, Marian and Conor have spearheaded numerous initiatives to engage and inspire young players.
Marian Britton is the Junior Conveyor / Junior Liaison Safeguarding Officer in Cobh Golf Club and also a Volunteer Championship Official with Golf Ireland officiating at various events in our district.
Conor Coyne is Juvenile Officer, Marguerite O’Brien Treasurer, Maura O Mahony Assistant officer.
We have Dan Murphy, Bertie Meehan and Rick Livingstone on board this year, with parents asked to give 2 hours volunteering in the year.
All volunteers will be Garda Vetted.
Dedicated Instructors
Alongside Marian, our golf pro Conor Coyne has been instrumental in providing top-notch instruction and mentorship to the junior members. Conor’s expertise, patience, and ability to connect with young players have been crucial in fostering a love for the game and honing their skills. Conor is just outstanding and has brought the Juvenile Section to where it is today. His professionalism and commitment is impeccable.
Continued Growth
Under their leadership, the junior golf program at Cobh has flourished, attracting a steadily increasing number of enthusiastic participants. From beginner clinics and group lessons to advanced coaching and competitive opportunities, the club ensures that golfers of all skill levels can find the support and resources they need to thrive.
Our Juvenile Boys have competed in the past year and did so well representing the club in the Fred Daly and the Harbour Shield.
Our boys won the Harbour Plate last year and also won the best individual of the tournament Ciaran O’Farrell
Investing in the Future
The club’s investment in the junior program not only benefits the young players themselves but also contributes to the long-term growth and vibrancy of the Cobh Golf Club community. As the junior program continues to expand, the club looks forward to cultivating a new generation of talented golfers who will carry on the club’s proud legacy.
We currently have a thriving Juvenile club here in the club with over 87 members
We also have entered our Cadets in the Inter club Golf Sixes run by Golf Ireland playing in 6 local clubs over a 6 hole competition. The criteria for this we must have a minimum of 2 girls and 4 boys ! Great fun for all
