Inter Club Competitions

The club competes in Golf Ireland Inter-Club competitions.

These competitions are structured team events where golf clubs from across the island of Ireland compete against each other in matchplay formats, progressing from Area and Regional Qualifiers to All-Ireland Finals.

These competitions are designed to foster club pride, promote camaraderie among golfers, and provide a platform for competitive play at various skill levels.

The Senior Cup is the most coveted trophy in club golf. Teams consist of five players in singles matchplay, off scratch. 

Eligibility

  • Stroke play qualifier at pre-selected venue, Matchplay for Quarter, Semi and Final.
  • 5 players per team.
  • To be eligible, players must have a Handicap Index at the time of competing.
  • Singles matches played off scratch.

It is one of the oldest inter-club events, involving teams of 5 scratch players competing in single matches. The competition involves teams from across Ireland vying for the national title.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible, a player must have 20 scores on their handicap record by 01 January.
  • Individual – no lower than 2.5 in last year.
  • Singles matches played off scratch.
  • Team of 5 players
  • Matchplay.

Clubs are represented by five pairs, the minimum individual handicap index being 6 and the minimum combined index 17. A National Foursomes Competition aimed at Category 2 handicap indexes (6-12) golfers

Eligibility

  • To be eligible, a player must have 20 scores on their handicap record by 01 January.
  • Individual – no lower than 3.5 in last year.
  • Team of 8 players.
  • Pair combined – no lower than 14.0 in last year.
  • Foursomes Matches are played off scratch.
  • Matchplay.

The Pierce Purcell Shield is a national foursome competition aimed at category 3 handicap index golfers (11-17).

  • To be eligible, a player must have 20 scores on their handicap record by 01 January.
  • Individual – no lower than 10.5
  • Combined – no lower than 25.0
  • Based on Lowest Handicap Index in last year.
  • Matches are played off scratch
  • Age Limit – over 18 on 1st January.
  • Team of 8 players.
  • Matchplay.
